New Years Resolutions

Okay..well, I tried to avoid making resolutions because it seems to be the fashionable thing to say "Well, I'll just break them anyway, so why bother?", but I have been inspired by a blog I frequent called HelloKo - written by Koichi, a super entrepreneur whom I admire greatly.  Pop over to his blog to see his interesting set of resolutions (not funny ones, though - I quite like the serious stuff!). I particularly like the lucid dreaming and rejection therapy ones - but I don't think I'm quite ready for them myself.

So, here goes...in 2011, I want to...

1. Not kill Rai's sea monkeys - these are the BEST present ever for small children (ages 6 - 8 would most appreciate them, I think), and also kids like me who never grew up...but it would be sad if they died too soon, they've only just reached 1mm in length.
Isn't his the cutest monkey you've ever seen?

2. Complete a duathlon, and possibly other sporty stuff...
I have signed up for this already, and since it cost $60 I will definitely do it (it is just a short "for the ladies" one, but still...). I started my fitness regime by doing an exercise video for fifty minutes this morning...still recovering, but I think I will be able to do it every day. I would prefer to go jogging every morning, but early morning baby feeds and the hills around my house are current obstacles.

3. Upload my photos every day - this seems to be the easiest way to motivate myself to write this blog - and take interesting photos. I really need to upskill my photography skills though. Mine are so 1985.
Rai's 6th birthday present (a bit early) - he got to put it together himself

The finished product (yes, a bit too small but he hasn't noticed that yet)

Rai made a teepee

4. Look forward to going back to work in June and enjoy it when I'm there - I don't think it will be too hard, lovely staff, lovely students...just need to get Luka sleeping through the night by then ; ) (currently he wakes once or twice a night - around 12am and 3am..though I am thinking of Ferberizing him in the next two months - just because I like the word "Ferberize").

5. Beautify the garden
I got some great tips from an ex- landscape gardener friend - which include a lot of digging, concreting (in a good way), weed spraying, tree cutting and ground levelling - all of which I have never done. It could be a steep learning curve, but I'm willing to do it..

Plus some other things...but I will add them in February. It is hard to know what I am capable of because currently Seiji is at home on holiday (he starts work on Wednesday though - yay Seiji!) so I am not very busy looking after the boys; then Rai is on school holidays until the end of January, so I don't think I will get too much "me" time before then..so the beginning of February is when I might reflect and add a few more resolutions.
